The Son of the Phantom - 1946
This is one of a series of novels that came out in the forties. Based upon Lee Falk's creation, illustrations appear to be by Wilson McCoy.

My edition is falling apart and is quite fragile, however it is still readable. There are some illustrations through the book, but it is mostly a written tale.
